Security lapse • Only a major security lapse explains how it was possible for someone to throw a shoe at President William Ruto at a public rally in Migori County, says Douglas Kaumbuthu Aritho. “This incident shouldn’t be taken lightly. The President’s security detail should be enhanced after a proper risk assessment in order to avoid a possible recurrence.” His contact is [email protected].

Two-faced • The latest expert ODM has lent to President Ruto is Prof Makau Mutua, the constitutional affairs adviser, notes Dave Tumbula. “Since these people are close associates of party leader Raila Odinga, what we now have is not a broad-based government, but an unofficial coalition. But how does Prof Mutua, who has always been sharply critical of the President, now respectfully advise him?”

Big shortlist • The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission selection panel may have completed interviews and presented its report to President Ruto to pick and forward the names to the National Assembly for vetting, but Churchill Amatha has a nagging question. “Why did the panel have to interview 100 applicants for the six commissioner positions?” His contact is [email protected].

Wilson security • Wilson Airport is a high-traffic area near Kibera slums and densely populated residential neighbourhoods, whose security should be fully enhanced, says Brian Maitai. “It’s a place where miscreants could easily launch cheap suicide drones. A good fence is required to replace that cheap chain link that is adjacent to Lang’ata Road.” His email address is [email protected].

Stimulus • Just perusing through the acres of space reserved for auctioneers’ advertisements in the Daily Nation, Jotham Ndung’u says, is the clearest sign that the economy isn’t performing well. He adds: “I think it’s high time the National Treasury came up with an economic stimulus programme. It should let the money flow in the economy once again.” His contact is [email protected].

Have a stimulating day, won’t you!
