Why Simba SC stand to gain from multi-billion jersey deal

What you need to know:

  • The deal guarantees Simba Sh38.1 billion over the next five years, with Sh5.6 billion set to be paid in the first year alone

Dar es Salaam.  Tanzanian football giants Simba SC are poised to benefit greatly from a five-year jersey sponsorship agreement with Jayrutty Investment Company Limited, which promises both financial and operational support for the club.

The deal guarantees Simba Sh38.1 billion over the next five years, with Sh5.6 billion set to be paid in the first year alone.

Jayrutty has already deposited 30 percent of the total sponsorship package, signaling a strong commitment to the club’s growth.

According to Jayrutty Investment Company Limited Director, CPA Joseph Rwegasira, the company’s support extends beyond just the jersey deal.

"We are pledging Sh100 million annually to cover pre-season preparations and another Sh100 million to foster youth football development," Rwegasira shared.

Additionally, Sh150 million will be allocated for the renovation of Simba’s training grounds, while another Sh100 million will help fund Simba Day, the club’s highly anticipated annual celebration.

Rwegasira also revealed the company’s plans to further enhance player performance incentives, committing Sh470 million annually to reward standout players throughout the season.

"This initiative is designed to recognize the players who shine on and off the pitch," he said.

As part of the sponsorship, Jayrutty will provide Simba with a brand-new Irizar team bus, with the purchase process already underway.

In a major move to elevate Simba’s stature regionally and internationally, Jayrutty plans to construct a modern stadium in the Bunju area.

The facility will have a capacity of 10,000 to 12,000 spectators and will include state-of-the-art training grounds, a modern medical center, administrative offices, and a media and production studio.

"Our vision is to take Simba to the next level of development," Rwegasira added.

Jayrutty will also assist the club in recruiting top-tier players for the upcoming season, ensuring that Simba maintains its competitive edge.

"We are committed to making Simba the best it can be, both in terms of on-field performance and off-field operations," Rwegasira emphasized.

"As part of our efforts, we will produce high-quality jerseys, proudly branded with a globally recognized name."

Simba’s Chief Executive Officer, Zubeda Sakuru, expressed her optimism about the deal, noting that it marks a significant step towards further development.

"This partnership reflects how Simba is embracing serious investment.

As leaders, we are fully committed to this path, and our aim is to elevate Simba to the highest standards in both performance and infrastructure," she said.

Simba’s Chairman, Murtaza Mangungu, called on all stakeholders to unite and support the club’s leadership in achieving these ambitious goals.

Deputy Minister for Culture, Arts, and Sports, Hamis Mwinjuma (popularly known as Mwana FA), commended Simba for its progress and encouraged the leadership to continue pushing for development.

He also highlighted the positive investment climate fostered by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, which has contributed to growth in various sectors, including sports.

"Under President Samia’s leadership, sports development has flourished. The Taifa Stars have qualified for the Afcon finals, and our U-17, U-20, and women’s national teams are also making impressive strides.

I applaud Simba’s leadership, players, and fans. Let’s keep the momentum going and work towards Simba’s continental glory," he said.

This partnership with Jayrutty Investment is set to bring both immediate financial rewards and long-term growth to Simba SC, positioning the club for continued success on the domestic and continental stage.
