Simba beat JKT Tanzania to keep title hopes alive

Dar es Salaam. A crucial first-half goal by Fabrice Ngoma proved to be the difference as Simba SC edged JKT Tanzania 1-0 in a tightly contested Mainland Tanzania Premier League encounter today, May 5, 2025 at the Major General Isamuhyo Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Ngoma struck just before the halftime whistle, converting a well-delivered pass from Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala in one of the game’s most critical moments.
The goal, though solitary, was enough to hand Simba all three points and maintain their momentum in the race for the league title.

Meanwhile, the result leaves JKT Tanzania in seventh position on the league standings, with 32 points from 27 matches. Despite the loss, the army side gave a strong account of themselves, pushing Simba throughout the 90 minutes.
It was far from an easy outing for the Msimbazi giants, as they encountered stiff resistance from a well-organized JKT Tanzania team that showed discipline and tactical awareness for most of the match.
Simba head coach Fadlu Davids lauded his players for their resilience and determination in what he described as a tough match.
“It was not an easy match. The players deserve a lot of credit f h the or their effort and determination. They fought hard and showed character, and that’s what gave us the victory,” said Davids.
On the other side, JKT Tanzania’s head coach Ahmad Ally acknowledged the narrow defeat but pointn2ed out that a key error towards the end of the first half was what cost them the match.
“My players performed well overall,” said Ally. “But we made ka mistake in the final minute of the first half, and Simba capitalized. It was unfortunate because we held them off for most of the game.”
