Dar es Salaam. The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Tanzania has announced the appointment of Augustino Mbogella to the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) Oversight Council.

He becomes the sole representative from Africa on the eight-member body.

Appointed by IIA Global in January for a three-year term, Mr Mbogella is the first Tanzanian to serve on the Council, which includes members from organisations such as the World Bank, INTOSAI, IFAC, GNDI, OECD, and IIA.

Tanzania has applied the IPPF as the benchmark for internal audit since 2011, aligning local practice with global standards.

Mr Mbogella is a former IIA Tanzania President and has served as Vice-President of AFIIA.

Globally, he has been a member of the IIA Global Board and served on the International Internal Audit Standards Board and the Professional Certification Board. He is the founder and Managing Director of GRC Solutions and has over 30 years’ experience in internal audit, governance, risk management, and strategy.

“I am honoured by this appointment. It is an opportunity to support the development of internal audit standards that serve the public interest,” he said.

IIA Tanzania Past President Richard Magongo said the appointment comes as new Global Internal Audit Standards take effect. “We are proud of Mr Mbogella and the recognition it brings,” he said.

IIA Global Board Member Emmanuel Johannes said the appointment reflects global recognition of IIA Tanzania’s work, adding that the institute continues to contribute to leadership in the region.
