Samia appoints new MD for Tanesco

Dar es Salaam. President Samia Suluhu Hassan has made a series of leadership changes affecting regional and institutional roles, including the appointment of Mr Lazaro Jacob Twange as the new managing director of the Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (Tanesco).
According to a statement issued by the Director of Presidential Communications, Ms Sharifa Nyanga, the changes involve both transfers and new appointments in line with the government’s efforts to strengthen public service delivery.
Mr Twange, who previously served as District Commissioner for Ubungo, now takes the helm at Tanesco the state-owned power utility.
His appointment comes in the wake of the untimely death of his predecessor, Eng. Boniface Gissima Nyamo-Hanga, who died in a road accident in Mara Region last month.
In other changes, Mr Albert Gasper Msando has been transferred from Handeni District to become the new District Commissioner for Ubungo, replacing Mr Twange.
Meanwhile, Mr Japhari Mghamba Kubecha moves from Tanga District to head Handeni, while Mr Dadi Horace Kolimba has been reassigned from Karatu to lead Tanga District.
Mr Lameck Karanga Nganga has been appointed District Commissioner for Karatu, having previously served as the District Administrative Secretary in the same district.
Additionally, Mr Bahati Migiri Mfungo has been named District Administrative Secretary for Karatu, replacing Mr Nganga. Mr Mfungo was previously a Divisional Officer in Mbuguni, Arumeru District.
In the academic sector, Mr Andrew William Massawe has been appointed Chairman of the Council of the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), replacing retired Chief Justice Mohamed Chande Othman, who completed his term.
