Tanzanians Kefa Igilo and Jerryson Onasaa win best unscripted series at AMVCA 2025 in Nigeria

Lagos, Nigeria. Tanzanian filmmakers Kefa Hussein Igilo and Jerryson Onasaa have earned continental acclaim after winning Best Unscripted Series in Africa at the 11th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), held on May 9, 2025, in Lagos, Nigeria.
Their reality series Wa Milele?, produced in collaboration with Showmax, emerged victorious in a highly competitive category, triumphing over four other nominees.
Wa Milele? Was nominated in two categories including Best Indigenous Language (East Africa, is a gripping reality show that brings together four married couples under one roof for a month.
During this time, the couples confront their relationship challenges head-on, fostering open dialogue and shedding light on the evolving dynamics of modern marriage within African society.

At the end of the show, each couple must decide whether to remain together or go their separate ways.
Filmmaker Kefa Igilo described the win as a milestone for the Tanzanian film industry.
“This award belongs to all Tanzanians,” he said. “We are grateful to MultiChoice Tanzania for believing in our potential and to the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation for their support," he said
The two added, "We also acknowledge the efforts of Her Excellency President Samia Suluhu Hassan in promoting the film industry. This award proves that Tanzania is capable.”
The AMVCAs are among the most prestigious honours in African film and television, recognising outstanding creativity and storytelling across the continent.
