Kenya triallist Sarah Namisi looks a likely candidate to bag the Most Valuable Player award at the Kenya Volleyball Federation National League final play-offs that serve off Friday at Moi International Sports Centre indoor arena in Nairobi.

Namisi, 23, who has been a key player for Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) in the first qualification to the women’s play-off finals since 2018, said she had what it takes to win the award.

“I have put in the work this season and I feel my body has responded well. My attack has been superb so has been my back court reception. I won the best attacker award in 2022 and I feel I have done more this season,” said the left attacker this week.

DCI, who eliminated former champions Kenya Prisons 3-2 in the semi-finals at the Makande Hall, in Mombasa last month will square off with  2022 champions Kenya Pipeline in the best-of three women’s finals with the first match scheduled for 2pm.

Pipeline swept aside defending champions KCB 3-1 in their semi-final play-offs.

Namisi, a Police constable, failed to make the final Kenya squad to last year’s Paris Olympics Games but is hopeful that the stars will align for her to play in the 2025 FIVB World Championship scheduled for August 22 to September 7 in Thailand.

“I’m aware of the competition for my position at the national team. I will let my game speak for me. I want to play well and make our former coach Daniel Bor smile in heaven. I wish he was still here to see what we have become.

He was the man behind the formation of this team together with team manager Neddy Nelimo in 2018,” said Namisi who hails from Webuye East, Bungoma.

“Winning the league will be fantastic. Pipeline are a good side, but we have been patient and worked hard to reach this stage. We are going for the title,” added Namisi who stands at 5 feet 11 inches and has had a stint at KCB after she cleared School in 2021.
