Kenya Police forward Mohammed Bajaber, a revelation of the season, crowned it all with the Football Kenya Federation Premier League title.

It was a stunning rise for a player, who, just a few months ago was playing for Nairobi City Stars who eventually got relegated, then moved to Police who have ended up finishing top of the table.

Bajaber joined the law enforcers during the February transfer window due to his goal-scoring prowess at City Stars where he had plundered six goals.

The Harambee Stars striker told Nation Sport on Tuesday he was elated to have bagged the league title with Kenya Police.

Clad in a blue suit, he was part of the Kenya Police players at State House, Nairobi on June 24, 2025, where they were hosted for breakfast by President William Ruto.

“I feel honoured to have achieved this feat as a player. It was a collective effort by all of us including the management and support from our fans,” said the 22-year-old player.

He confessed that on March 15 after scoring a brace in 3-1 win over Murangá Seal at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, he started dreaming of winning the league with Police.

“At City Stars, it was always about finishing away from the relegation zone. But at Police, my dream remained to win the league. I knew we could as long as I scored and we won our matches.

“I’m satisfied. I didn’t have a target of the number of goals I wanted to score.”

The rising forward scored nine league goals, five with Police and four while playing for City Stars.

The silky forward joined Nairobi City Stars in 2022 from Starfield Academy in Nairobi.

Even as he celebrated his first-ever league crown, he said he was saddened by the fate of Nairobi City Stars which was his home for three years.

“City Stars opened their door for me. I hold them dear in my heart because they made me grow my talent. It is sad that they have been relegated and maybe if I was there we would have fought but even my teammates did well, they were relegated on goal difference,” he said.

“I would not say I was struggling at City Stars but obviously going to the Police was a good move for me and I thank God for that,” he said.

Bajaber impressed the hard-to-please Kenyan football fans with a sublime performance in Harambee Stars’ dramatic came-from-behind 3-3- draw with Gambia in a 2026 World Cup qualifier at the Stade Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on March 20.

His next focus is the delayed 2024 Africa Nations Championship (Chan) that kicks off on August 2 in the three East African countries.

The young forward is looking forward to making the final Kenyan team for the championship.

“Of course, it will be great to play for the national team again in Chan but we have also qualified for CAF Champions League next season where we intend to do well by preparing early,” he said. A player on the move, you could say.
