DP Kindiki to critics: I won’t be dragged into dirty politics

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki addresses coffee farmers at Kavutiri Coffee Mills in Embu County, on April 26, 2027.
What you need to know:
- Prof Kindiki said the economy has stabilised, and the government has enough resources to invest in development across the country.
- The DP inspected the construction of Gwa Kiongo-Gituamba-Kabazi road, a 27-kilometre stretch to be completed for Sh1.1 billion.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has castigated those opposed to President William Ruto’s administration and warned politicians against incitement.
Speaking at Mirangine, Ol Kalou Constituency in Nyandarua, the DP said the government would now ensure the timely completion of all stalled projects.
“I know there are some people whose focus and expectation is to engage us in political rhetoric, but it is not the duty of the government engage in incitements and hatred. I know they expected that I will engage in political exchange with them, but that is not why we are in government,” said Prof Kindiki.
The DP said the economy has stabilised, and the government has enough resources to invest in development across the country.
“The focus has shifted from launching projects to implementation. We will finish all stalled projects; we have the resources to complete them and fund them to completion. I can assure Kenyans of that,” said the DP.
During the Nyandarua tour, the DP inspected the construction of Gwa Kiongo-Gituamba-Kabazi road, a 27-kilometre stretch to be completed for Sh1.1 billion.
He told the residents that President William Ruto sent him to assess the progress of the road, whose completion will connect Nyandarua to Nakuru County.
“The president has directed the revival of all stalled projects, not only in Ol Kalou but across the country. It’s now time for us in the government to ensure that we serve Kenyans. The last two years have been economically hard for us, but we are now stable,” said Prof Kindiki.
He said all stalled road projects in Ndaragwa, Kipipiri, Ol Jorok, and Kinangop constituencies and across the country have had funds disbursed, and their completion will spur economic growth in the country.
The President launched at least three times some of the stalled roads, including others that he launched when still the Deputy President under President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Another overdue project is the construction of the Ndunyu-Njeri-Geta road, and the completion of Ol Kalou headquarters, which is over 10 years behind schedule. On some of the roads, including the Boiman road, the contractor left the site immediately after the president’s helicopters left the construction sites.
Prof Kindiki said that other projects, which were to be completed, were the stalled market projects.
The national government had also yet to release Sh250 million for the Njabini Industrial Park, where the county government had already allocated a similar amount to the seed capital.
With the completion of the roads and markets, the DP said farmers will easily deliver fresh produce like cabbage, carrots, potatoes, and milk to the market.
“Completion of the projects will reduce the post-harvest losses for our farmers. We are equipping the modern markets we are constructing with cold storage,” said the DP.
He said that the last-mile project has also benefited the county by connecting every village to electricity.
“As a government, we are working to make the lives of the people better. We are focusing on improving Kenyans’ lives; now is not the time for politics. When the campaign season arrives, we will face the Kenyan people; we are not afraid. We will not let distractions derail our national goals,” said Prof Kindiki.
