A car dealer embroiled in a dispute with Nairobi businessman Francis Ng’ang’a has been arrested by police.

Mr Robert Bundi Mugaa, a broker at the centre of the controversial deal, was arrested over the weekend by detectives from Kilimani Police Station.

Kilimani Police Commander Patricia Yego confirmed the arrest and said the suspect would be arraigned in court.

The dispute stems from a failed car deal on March 20 involving Mr Ng’ang’a, the proprietor of Valley Road Motors and Mr Mugaa.

Mr Ng’ang’a’s son Brandon Njoroge entered into an agreement with Mr Mugaa to purchase a Mercedes Benz that had been brought to their showroom after what they believed was proper due diligence.

However, Mr Njoroge is now staring at a Sh4 million loss after being forced to surrender the vehicle to its rightful owner last week despite having fully paid for it.

He has since reported the matter to Nairobi Central Police Station where investigations are ongoing.

On June 13, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Renson Ingonga withdrew a case filed at the Makadara Law Courts, where Mr Ng’ang’a, his son Njoroge and Mr Mugaa were accused of conspiring to steal a Mercedes Benz S350, registration number KDS 724T, valued at Sh6.5 million, allegedly owned by a city lawyer.

The DPP allowed the matter to be resolved out of court after Mr Njoroge presented documents proving he had legitimately purchased the car.

Before the withdrawal, the Makadara Court had issued arrest warrants for both Francis Ng’ang’a and his son after they failed to appear in court to answer to the charges.

Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe issued the warrants after the three accused persons failed to attend court proceedings.

According to court documents, the accused were alleged to have conspired to steal the luxury vehicle on February 20, 2025, in Dandora, within Kamukunji Sub-county.

The charges included conspiracy to commit a felony and stealing the vehicle, but the case was dropped once the court was satisfied that the transaction was supported by documentation.
