A bus involved in an accident along the Wundanyi-Mwatate road in Taita Taveta.

Six people, including four students of Aggrey Boys High School, were killed in a road accident at Josa black spot along the Wundanyi-Mwatate road in Taita Taveta on Saturday February 1.

The students were on a school bus carrying 17 students and other passengers from Wundanyi to Voi.

The students were on their way home after the school was closed indefinitely this morning following another fire incident on Saturday afternoon.

Confirming the incident, Taita Taveta County Police Commander Ali Ndiema said five other students sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the Moi County Referral Hospital in Voi.

"Nine other passengers survived with minor injuries and are being treated at Mwatate Sub-County Hospital," Mr Ndiema said.

A police report said the accident happened after the driver of the vehicle lost control and rammed into a guardrail on the right side of the road.

The injured were rushed to Mwatate Sub-County Hospital for treatment while the bodies were taken to Moi Voi Hospital mortuary for preservation and identification.
