House positions • The MPs should deal with more serious issues such as the reconstitution of the IEBC and allocate development funds instead of fighting for parliamentary positions, says Joseph Macharia. “The ruling on the majority party has thrown a spanner in the works. Let them not waste time as there have been realignments by political parties” His contact is [email protected].

Corruption • While the conviction of former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and his wife is a major victory in the war against corruption, Joe Ngige Mungai is not totally impressed. Says he: “You steal Sh500 million, and are fined less than 10 per cent. Which business or investment could have given this kind of return in less than 10 years? The risk is worth it.” His contact is [email protected].

Goods prices • Every month-end, Henry Ruhiu notes, supermarkets offer products at half-price in promotions. But a sceptical Henry says he has come to learn that even overseas, such products will have overstayed and shouldn’t be sold. “A relative in the UK has told me that such goods aren’t sold but are normally given out free of charge to the less-fortunate people.” His contact is [email protected].

Weak signal • The poor mobile phone network is hampering effective communication in many areas, says Pamillia Mbotela. “This affects communication, business, and education. Rural residents struggle with weak signals. This limits digital growth and opportunities. The government and telecom firms should build better infrastructure to enhance connectivity.” Her email address is [email protected].

Career • Politics is a richly rewarding business that ought to be taught as a professional course in high school and at university, says Dave Tumbula. “Some semi-literate politicians end up enjoying huge salaries and perks, in fact, much higher than doctors, teachers and other professionals. This training will perhaps sharpen their skills and make them more productive and not just sycophants.”

Have a lucrative day, won’t you!
