Investigation • Emotions are understandably high, eliciting demands for justice, following the death of schoolteacher and online campaigner Albert Ojwang, notes Philip Nyasio. “But even in our grief, we should resist the urge to assign blame without verification. His death should be fully investigated, beginning with the police officers who picked him up.” His contact is [email protected].

Responsibility • DCI boss Mohamed Amin, whose officers arrested Ojwang, should take full responsibility for his killing, says Joram Mkunde. “If a suspect is taken to a police station by DCI, why would regular police beat him up not knowing the offence he may have committed? Secondly, why didn’t the aggrieved senior officer sue him for defamation?” His contact is [email protected].

Bad Bill • Aldai MP Maryanne Kitany should withdraw her Kenya Information and Communication (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which has “been exposed as a clever attempt to sneak in censorship”, says Taabu Tele. “She talked herself into knots of paradoxes, waxing deceptively lyrical about the need for consumer protection at the expense of basic rights.” His email address is [email protected].

Defective bill • Nairobi Water Company has really upset Neil Ndagwa, who is disputing his bill. On June 9, Neil (meter No. 5047597), received a message saying that he owed Sh5,835. “I paid Sh5,000 on June 10 but didn’t receive a confirmation message. They later said it had been reflected but I owed Sh6,835 for May to June. I’m sure they’ve not read my meter.” His contact is [email protected].

Diplomatic gaffe • President William Ruto’s administration’s apparent endorsement of Somaliland is a diplomatic farce, says Robert Mukirae, faulting the reception of its leadership. “This diplomatic gaffe has left Kenya in a murky gutter. If pathetic ineptitude was a competition, the Kenya Kwanza regime would be a perennial champion.” His contact is [email protected].

Have a prudent day, won’t you!
